Dave Dorsett

Dave will spearhead the company’s digital transformation initiatives, driving innovation, enhancing client experience, and leading the overall digital strategy to ensure Astrix remains at the forefront of technological advancements.

Dave has multiple decades of R&D informatics experience in the global pharmaceutical, chemical, and consumer goods industries, where he has architected, designed, and delivered commercial and in-house solutions for global R&D organizations, from early research through late-stage development and manufacturing. Dave has spent the past seven years as a consultant, using his experience and knowledge of a broad range of technologies along with an ability to bring together IT and business strategy to design and deliver innovative solutions for global scientific data management. He spent nearly a decade at Bristol-Myers Squibb, where he first led pre-clinical development and veterinary sciences informatics, after which he moved into global corporate IT where he directed application architecture, design, development, and support. Prior to BMS, he was at Symyx Technologies for 10 years, first as CIO, then as founder of Symyx Software, where he directed the creation of software for lab automation and data analysis used in high-throughput materials research, and established one of the major commercial ELN systems used throughout R&D. Before Symyx, he spent more than a decade at Molecular Design Limited (MDL) designing and developing software systems for research chemistry and biology.

Dave received his B.S. in chemistry and an M.B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley, and has multiple US and European patents in laboratory data automation, data acquisition, and analysis. Dave has been a member of the board of directors of the Association for Laboratory Automation (ALA), a founding board member and president of the Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS), and taken part in industry organizations such as the Pistoia Alliance and the Allotrope Foundation.
