POSITION SUMMARY: Provide daily care, husbandry, and support to the laboratory animals at GCMI/T3 Labs' test facility sites. Administer medications, sedatives, and anesthetics to lab animals. Manage the post-operative care of minor surgical models. Document records and research data timely and accurately. Key Responsibilities include:
This position will interact on a regular basis with GCMI/T3 labs other technical positions, research scientist, and faculty. This positions influence is to support the execution of research and training projects for internal and external customers. This position typically will advise and counsel: NA. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Degrees required for this job : High School/GED or Vocational School Diploma Degrees preferred for this job : Associate's degree or two years college course work; Bachelor's degree | |
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Minimum of one of year lab animal or veterinary medicine experience with veterinary technician certification / degree and or AALAS certification. Alternatively two years lab animal or veterinary medicine experience with a two year college degree or three years lab animal or veterinary medicine experience plus GED or equivalent would also qualify. | |
JOB KNOWLEDGE AND LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Certifications or licenses required for this job: Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician American Association for Laboratory Animal Science certification within 12 months of hire. Certifications or licenses preferred : Veterinary technician certification and or AALAS certification. Specialized skills required for this job : Knowledge of medication calculations, common drugs for laboratory animal sedation and analgesia. The ability to execute medical orders and research protocols instructions with minimal supervision. The ability to routinely lift more than 50 lbs. The ability to properly restrain and sedate lab animals. Ability to use Word and Excel. |
