A leading global manufacturer of specialty chemicals for die casting foundry and metalworking industries is excited to announce a new position has opened with their team in Canton for a Technical Service Associate on a contract to hire basis. This position is an excellent opportunity for an experienced customer service professional with 4+ years in an industrial business and laboratory environment within quality control, technical service/support, product development, or product management.

Salary: $50k-60k/yr.

Die Casting The Technical Service Associate (TSA) is the link between Customers (externally), the Sales and R&D team (internally). The TSA is responsible to support customers within our defined segments, from a technical point of view and advice within the whole chain (application, process, product selection, production etc.) of our products. The work will be in an international and multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

  • Manage the technical interface with customer base and align action with relevant disciplines (incl. Sales, Manufacturing, Research, Quality, Demand chain)
  • Thoroughly understand the technical needs of our customers and provide service in such a way to increase customer retention rates
  • Build relationships at all relevant levels of the customer and organization to facilitate short- and long-term technical support
  • Provide technical support to customers with existing or new products (routine sample analysis, competitive sample analysis, fluid condition monitoring, field sample gathering, etc.)
  • Support new business development by assisting the sales team with product field testing
  • Collaborate with customers to determine and implement corrective actions to maintain and/or reestablish product performance
  • Organize, investigate, and document, and resolve customer technical complaints in a timely manner
  • Initiate, modify, manage, and monitor the implementation of new products and product rationalization in relevant segment, manage changes in portfolio and product specifications towards customers
  • Propose and Revision of new products in agreement with Technical Service Manager, to satisfy market and customer needs
  • Collect, analyze, and identify opportunities/trends in the market. Cover and benchmark competitor activities by performing technology scouting in relevant segments
  • Attend industry wide meetings and events to broaden and expand technical and customer base information
  • Gather product performance data and characteristics in the casting simulation laboratory and on analytical lab instruments. Compare against actual product testing inside customer’s factories
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop sales engagement tools
  • Conduct training for customers to ensure proper application of products
  • Assisting with other lab related activities (quality control, Si reaction)


  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to think and act cross-functionally. Strong team player that can thrive in a challenging environment. Solid oral/written reporting, good communication and social skills are required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred (not required) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related science-type field, with 4+ years of experience in an industrial business environment
  • Experience in a laboratory setting (quality control, technical service/support, product development, product management) is highly desired
  • Prefer technical knowhow and experience of metal castings industry and of castings processes
  • Travel onsite to customer’s foundry is required <35%
  • Ability to create documents and reports using Microsoft Office Suite
