Shift time: Shift time varies, depends on study schedule!
Occasional weekend, early morning or late-night work required.
 
Objective the role:
  • Support in vivo team with studies, protocol, training, and more.
Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform contracted studies with no supervision.
  • Write protocols, record data, and analyze data.
  • Perform literature searches.
  • Place materials and reagents orders.
  • Train new staff members
  • Take on new tasks or projects as needed.

Day to day:

  • More engaged welfare of animals
  • 60% surgically driven, 40% director shift
  • Animal warfare, wellness checks on animals
  • Directing research staff to do surgical procedures.
  • Preform different procedures themselves on animals (usually larger animals, pigs, dogs, non human primates)
  • Preclinical studies on animals

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain safety and Research quality.
  • Perform tasks for experiments following step-by-step protocols with direct to close supervision.
  • Participate in experiments that include dosing, sampling, necropsy, etc.
  • Assist with labels, restraint, Research study prep.
  • Conduct Animal health observation.
  • Interact directly with Research Coordinator for direction.
  • Research set-up and preparation
  • Perform other duties as directed by Management.
  • Assist with data review and analysis.
  • Perform literature search/assist with development for upcoming projects.
  • Perform scope of experiments following step-by-step protocols with little to no supervision.
  • Provide guidance to another Research personnel.
  • Provide guidance to lower-level Research personnel.
  • Independently implement and execute in-vivo studies.
  • Able to work among and across most animals’ species.
  • Assist in development and utilization of in-vivo animal models.
  • Requires Some client interaction.
  • Split time between vivarium (in-vivo) and Research supervision (documentation)
  • Assist in compiling data, prepare ACUP's, protocols, reports, prepare graphs, analysis.
  • Independently implement and execute in-vivo studies.
  • Assist in compiling data, prepare ACUP's, protocols, reports, prepare graphs, analysis.

  • CRO experience preferred (harder to transition from pharma to CRO)

  • Any certification that speaks to their experience is preferred!
Systems experience requirements (LIMS/PM tool/etc.):  
Education & Industry experience requirement: MS or BS with a minimum level of 5 years of working experience. (negotiable)
Knowledge of cell biology and biochemistry is required.

This position must communicate and exercise sound judgment and organizational practices in performing a variety of duties involving establishing and maintaining positive relationships with BTS team members, and other duties as assigned. 

Duties & Responsibilities
The duties of the Study Director/Veterinary Surgeon are to be carried out with a professionally friendly, enthusiastic, can-do attitude.  Must be able to maintain a friendly, positive attitude and a professional demeanor at all times, committed to the pursuit of excellence in areas including customer services. 
Although timeliness is essential, it is imperative to understand the importance of maintaining and understanding accurate timelines, accurate supply levels and communicating to the Department Manager to successfully execute all the duties and responsibilities of this evolving position.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 
MS or BS with a minimum level of 5 years of working experience. (negotiable)
