ROLES / RESPONSIBILITES
- Be responsible for leading research projects relevant to the overall goals of the laboratory
- Work closely and proactively with the principal investigator (PI) and other laboratory members
- Identify the most applicable protocols and methods after discussing the scope and objectives of the research projects with the PI
- Learn new and established techniques and process samples for high-throughput genomic and epigenomic analyses
- Assume major responsibility for the planning and development of experiments and experimental protocols
- Detect problems or deficiencies in methodology or protocols and takes appropriate corrective action. This may involve the evaluation of new or unfamiliar methods or protocols.
- Discuss the results of experiments with the PI and give presentations at lab meetings. Periodically attend conferences, meetings, and lectures on subjects of relevance to the research program.
- Perform animal experiments, including mouse handling, colony maintenance, tissue dissection, and sample collection
- Depending on the trajectory of the projects, perform immunology and molecular biology laboratory assays, including immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, tissue culture, ELISA, qPCR, ATAC-seq, RNA-seq and ChIP-seq
- Maintain complete, detailed records of all experiments performed in a notebook
- Write in-house protocols for new techniques and manuscripts for publication
- Other responsibilities include analyzing and interpreting collected data, attending and presenting in laboratory meetings and journal clubs
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
- Ph.D. in immunology, biology, neuroscience, or related fields
- Have at least one first authorship on at least one peer-reviewed publication
- Self-motivated and keen to develop and/or learn cutting-edge technologies
- Basic programming skills in R and bash script is preferred
- Strong communications skills, both oral and written
- Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal and time management skills
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Knowledgeable on neurodegeneration of neuroinflammation
- Knowledgeable on cytokine biology and signaling pathways
- Experience in CRISPR screening
- Experience in scRNA-seq
- Expertise in lentiviral transduction
- Experience with handling of, and surgeries on, rodents
- Experience with brain microdissection
