Title: Research Technician II – Preclinical Team
Pay: $30-42/hr
Location: Thousand Oaks, CA
6 month contract to hire
Schedule of M-F 8am – 5pm.
Details: We are looking for research associates to join our Preclinical Team. The goal of this position is to work collaboratively within the Preclinical team to identify the distribution of AAV and therapeutic efficacy in tested animals. Under the guidance of a Preclinical scientist, you will execute experiments focusing on rodent-based studies including in-life measures, necropsy, tissue processing, and developing assay to analyze vector genomes from necropsy tissues. A successful candidate will have hands-on experience with molecular biology and rodent study experience, and a desire to grow and learn. Laboratory activities will constitute approximately 85% of the time.
Responsibilities
- Follow and perform established experimental design protocols to obtain reproducible and reliable results with limited supervision.
- Record, analyze, and communicate experimental data.
- Maintain an electronic lab notebook.
- Communicate results in a clear and concise manner.
- Effectively trouble-shoot equipment and experimental difficulties.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to develop experimental approaches and exchange experimental material, reagents, and data.
Essential Qualifications
- BS or MS in molecular biology, neuroscience, or related fields.
- 3+ years wet lab experience, preferably within the biotech industry.
- Hands-on experience in molecular biology: PCR, real-time PCR, ddPCR, cloning
- Hands-on experience in rodent study: animal handling, necropsy, dissection
- Ability to conduct advanced procedures precisely and consistently.
- Ability to document and maintain an organized account of lab work and results.
- Collaborative mindset, experience working as part of a larger group to achieve scientific goals.
- Willingness to learn, grow, and contribute to team-wide efforts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with gene editing, cloning, and cell culture
- Background knowledge of neuroanatomy.
- Assay development experience.
