Job Summary:
This position is responsible for performing quality audits on packaging lines to assure that products and packaging meet established quality standards and personnel are following protocols. Other responsibilities include laboratory testing of raw and finished products for chemical analysis on product that is processed through the facility. Participation and understanding of food safety programs, their corrective action, and documentation is essential.
Job Responsibilities:
- Calibrate lab and production equipment to ensure accuracy
- Responsible for chemical and supply inventory maintenance and order and dispersal of supplies
- Conduct, evaluate and follow-up on environmental, equipment, and hand swabs weekly
- Ensure completion of annual ingredient testing and monthly chemistry verifications
- Gather retest samples from multiple sites
- Ensure completion of air plate, compressed air, chloring, and water testing on scheduled basis
- Titrate chemicals daily
- Prepare Third Party Laboratory cheese requests
- Prepare DMR to product or packaging Hold Standards
- Conduct micro and chemistry analysis on raw and finished products
- Responsible for strict adherence to GMPs
- Assist for QA Techs as needed
- Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual Food Safety Audits
- Monitor data entry according to product specification limits
- Assist QA staffing in training
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must be able to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations
- Possess organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to pay close attention to the details
- Capable of following directions given; consistency is crucial to the position
- Must have proficient manual dexterity to perform routine laboratory functions
Education and Experience:
- Quality Assurance experience in a food production environment
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Associates or technical degree in Food Science or food related courses is preferred
- Specialized training in Food Technology or Laboratory Sciences is preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Able to sit 1-2 hours per day
- Able to stand and walk 4-10 hours per day
- Frequent bending
- Occasional reaching, kneeling, and squatting
- Able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 60lbs.
