Medical Laboratory Technologist- Toxicology
Leading diagnostic testing laboratory is excited to share they are hiring for a Medical Lab Technologist focusing in Toxicology, that will be responsible for determining normal and abnormal components of body fluids by conducting chemical analyses of urine and saliva. We are searching of r a candidate with a min of 2 years of experience and either an Associates or Bachelors degree in Medical Technology or any Laboratory Science, and an ASCP Certification.
Schedule: M-F, 8-5pm.
Pay: $55k
Responsibilities:
- Promote the mission, vision and values of the organization
- Works with all testing operations, instrumentation, and personnel – molecular, genetics, toxicology and blood
- Provides training and oversight for Clinical Laboratory Assistants & Work Based Learning trainees
- Ensures that all lab equipment is in good working order and calibrated before use
- Adhering to CLIA requirements and safety protocols
- Organizes work by matching computer orders with specimen labeling; sorts specimens; checks labeling; logs specimens; arranges reports for delivery.
- Performs routine and stat laboratory assays.
- Maintains quality results by running standards and controls; verifies equipment function through routine equipment maintenance and advanced troubleshooting; monitors quality control measures and protocols.
- Identifies the presence or quantity of drugs of abuse, therapeutic drugs and toxic substances by operating toxicology instrumentation and performing manual methods for the performance of drug screens, blood alcohol levels and carbon monoxide levels.
- Responsible for inventory of reagents and supplies in the laboratory, reports needed supplies to leadership and Procurement Specialist.
- Keeps work surfaces clean and orderly.
- Demonstrates the values of team concept on a consistent basis.
- Communicates verbally in a clear and concise manner.
- Submits suggestions to improve the laboratory’s efficiency.
- Performs clerical work; is able to input and retrieve lab results in the computer system.
Requirements:
- AA, BA or BS degree in Medical Technology or any Laboratory Science.
- ASCP or equivalent or eligible for certification and completed within 6 months.
- 3+ years of experience in a clinical diagnostic laboratory setting
