Our client is looking for a dedicated Manager to lead the Fermentation Scientists for our team in our North Brunswick, NJ. Our department is on the forefront of product development and innovation. We’ve got an insatiable appetite for making a difference.  

The responsibilities of this position include:

  • Independently define scope of project, and utilize scientific methods to design and execute experiments, analyze and interpret results, with little oversight.
  • develop and optimize media and microbial fermentation processes.
  • Utilize statistical software to generate experiment design, execute experiments, collect and analyze relevant data.
  • Lead a team of scientists focused on strain development and fermentation.
  • Transfer technical documentations, methods to pilot scale and supports communications.  

The requirements of this position include:

  • MS with 8+ years or PhD with 3+ years of industrial fermentation experience at various levels (including culture tubes, flask, bench-top bioreactors, and pilot).
  • Field of study: biology, bioengineering, microbiology, or related field with a strong background in Yeast fermentation.
  • Basic knowledge in microbial metabolism and physiology.
  • Prior experience leading a team of scientists
  • Comfortable with bench and pilot scale fermentation.
  • Prior experience in system scale-up is desirable.
  • Experience with liquid handling and screening methods is highly desirable.
  • Industrial biotechnology experience, delivering projects on time and on cost is helpful.
  • Proven ability to work with diverse, multidisciplinary teams
