Global cutting-edge biotech company focusing on clinical research and development processes is hiring a Logistics/Shipping Supervisor in Houston, TX. This is a contract to hire opportunity, great for someone with previous shipping & logistics experience in the healthcare field handling with World Courier of FedEx. As a Logistics/Shipping Supervisor you will be responsible for providing management, technical, and process performance leadership over the logistics department. A successful candidate will have a Bachelors degree or Associates degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Science, Business or other related fields, and 1-3 years of experience in an industrial laboratory related to logistics and shipping.
Key Duties:
- Responsible for shipment setting up, picking up and delivery tracking including clinical sample and other supplies
- Ensuring timely kit assembly and distribution, and supplies storage; tracking kits for expiration, kits delivery status, etc.
- Receiving, inspecting, and logging in supplies in ERP and patient specimens in BSI and LIMS; input kit and sample inventories in LIMS/BSI database and suggesting improvements
- Overviewing and managing kiting tracker, shipment tracker, freezer map, tissue bank with team members
- Coordinating clinical site management with input from other team members, clinical site inventories and replenishing/refreshing supplies, etc.
- Maintaining an organized and safe environment by helping to enforce GCP/CLIA compliance
- Providing training to clinical sites as requested
- Kit component inventories and ensuring that components are used in a first in/first out (FIFO) manner
- Sending out sample prenotification and receiving (sample and reagents) notifications to scientific team
- Communicate effectively with scientists, lab personnel, Project Managers, company management and customers
- Escalates risks/issues in a timely manner using all established operating mechanisms available to seek guidance for mitigation
- Participates in the review of new projects at late stages of contract execution
- Ensures thorough review of work-scopes with accountability;
- Provides comments, as appropriate, on the feasibility, resource requirements, work-scope for projects.
- Provides SOP and Policy Oversight
- Supports functional lead in establishing and maintaining an annual cycle to review existing SOPs for currency
- Monitors to ensure that SOPs and policies are followed by all team members working within their functional area
- Ensures complete training of both existing and new team members
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or associate degree or equivalent in Logistic, Supply chain, Science, Business or related field
- > 1-3 years of academic or industrial laboratory related logistic and shipping experience
- Previous supervisory or lead experience
- Familiar with LIMS or BSI system
- Understanding of current GLP or CAP/CLIA/ISO standards
- Have a documentation background in a laboratory setting with respect to regulatory guidelines (cGMP, cGLP or ISO) and SOPs
