Great opportunity to work as a Chemical Plating Technician for a family-owned industrial metal plating company used in the oil and gas industry located in Mansfield, TX
Chemical Plating Technician
Daily analysis and control of all the chemistries used in the production plant process which include plating baths & cleaning solutions.
630am-300pm or 8am-4:30pm
Overtime will be occasional depending on production schedule. Possibility for occasional Saturdays in busy season.
- Assist in all tasks involved in plating operations
- Checking tanks, valves, filters and bringing down baths
- Loading batches on racks for plating and personally putting loads into plating solutions
- Monitoring and assisting the completion of plating production batches throughout the day
- Visually monitoring solution circulation, rack function, pumps, and plumbing during the day
- Unloading finished work and transferring work to Final Inspection department
- Putting away baths and cleaning out tank when loads are done
- Pumping away spent bath to waste treatment/disposal area
- Stripping plating tanks and storage tanks as necessary
- Reporting and/or performing necessary repairs and maintenance on plating tanks, plumbing lines and filters
- Assisting in all other operating tasks necessary for the department to achieve its production goals
- Assisting and communicating with the Chemical Process Technicians about the operation of plating baths throughout the day and maintaining baths within predetermined operating parameters
- Maintain accurate records of all tank additions
- Maintain constant communication with Plating Department Lead and co-workers regarding bath operations, progress toward goals, spills, repairs and maintenance needs, material shortages, or when quality of work does not meet expectations
Job Requirements
- Must be able to read and write English
- Must be capable of: (100-400 times per shift)
- Lifting and carrying of parts (with a partner) that may weigh as much as 150 lbs. (average parts weigh 40-60 lbs.)
- Stooping, climbing, or crouching with some frequency
- Repetitive movements (grasping, pushing, and pulling)
- Working independently
- Must be able to be on your feet all day (standing or walking
- Must be able to read and understand hazardous labels on chemical containers
- Ability to work overtime, as needed (up to 10 hour shifts with little notice to complete production)
- Visual inspection of parts for small defects, use of precision measuring instruments, and recording of data
- Must be capable of basic mathematical calculations using a calculator
Safety requirements
- Always uses appropriate safety equipment: Safety glasses/goggles, Safety boots, Chemical resistant gloves/aprons and Respirator for certain functions
