Senior Scientist – Bioscience
Our pharmaceutical client is seeking a skilled and highly motivated Senior Scientist to enhance in vitro capabilities in cardiovascular disease.
Location: Gaithersburg, MD
Pay: $50-$58 per hour
Type: 6-month contract to possible extension or conversion
Responsibilities
- Conducts routine cell culture experiments independently by applying molecular and cellular biology techniques.
- Conducts hands-on primary cell culturing, and cell functional assays.
- Able to manipulate and characterize primary cells and cell lines.
- Contributes to the experiment plans and designs, communicates the results to team members and is involved in the interpretation of data.
- Supports drug project teams and works collaboratively with project managers to ensure the efficient relay of information and forward translation of data.
- Assesses and reports data, with little or no guidance, in a clear and concise manner, with a clear understanding of its implications within the overall context of drug discovery.
- Communicates and shares information between distinct projects within the bioscience function and across other functions.
- Ensures own work, and work of peers, is compliant with Good Laboratory Practice, Safety, Health and Environment standards and all other relevant internal standards and external regulations.
Required Skills
- Proficient in culturing and manipulating human primary cells and cell lines
- Proficient in trouble shooting and theory.
- Well-developed understanding and expertise in molecular and cellular biology.
- Excellent team player with good interpersonal skills.
Desired Skills
- Experience with human primary cardiovascular cell types, human iPSC-cardiomyocytes.
- Expertise in design and performing functional and image-based assays, cell transfection/ transduction.
- Good communication and networking skills
- In vitro and cell-based assay development skills
Education and Experience
- BS and 10+ years or MS and 8+ years of relevant experience, or a PhD or equivalent and/or professional certifications with 0-3 years of post-doctoral training, preferentially in cardiovascular disease area.
